August 7, 2025 (China) – China Power Construction Ningxia Engineering Co., Ltd. has entrusted China Power Construction Group Shandong Electric Power Construction Co., Ltd. to launch the procurement of supercapacitor energy storage system equipment for the Beihai Independent Shared Energy Storage Project through negotiation. This move marks a significant step in the key equipment configuration of the project, providing strong support for the construction of the regional energy storage network.
Project Scale
The Beihai project boasts an impressive scale, with the current phase featuring a energy storage capacity of 300MW/600MWh and a supporting main transformer capacity of 2×180MVA. In the final phase, the energy storage capacity will expand to 700MW/1400MWh, and the main transformer capacity will be upgraded to 2×180 + 2×240MVA.
Procurement Details
The procurement focuses on a 3MW/0.3MWh (6-minute) hybrid supercapacitor energy storage system, covering full-process services from equipment supply to installation and commissioning. The scope includes:
Hybrid supercapacitor containers/prefabricated cabins (equipped with lithium titanate hybrid supercapacitors, capacitor management systems, fire-fighting and thermal management systems);
Converter and step-up systems (including energy storage converters, box transformers, and related cables);
Supporting materials such as power cables, control cables, communication cables (excluding 35kV high-voltage cables for box transformers), spare parts, and special tools.
Suppliers are required to undertake comprehensive responsibilities from design, manufacturing, and testing to on-site installation guidance and after-sales service, ensuring compliance with grid and energy authority standards.
Supplier Qualifications
Must be a manufacturer with legal person status in China or abroad, capable of producing hybrid supercapacitor modules, and qualified as a supplier on China Power Construction Group's centralized procurement platform.
Hold ISO9001:2008 quality management system certification and be a general VAT taxpayer.
Demonstrate good financial standing, similar energy storage project supply performance in the past three years, and no major illegal records. Agents and joint ventures are not accepted.
Key Timelines & Location
Procurement documents can be obtained by submitting relevant materials on China Power Construction's equipment and materials centralized procurement platform before 10:00 AM, July 11, 2025.
Electronic response documents must be submitted via the platform before 10:00 AM, July 16, 2025.
Equipment delivery is scheduled for September 20, 2025, at a designated location in Beihai Economic Development Zone, Wudi County, Binzhou City, Shandong Province.
Project Significance
As a vital regional energy storage infrastructure, the Beihai project will enhance the power system's peak regulation and frequency modulation capabilities, facilitating new energy integration and energy structure transformation. The successful implementation of this procurement lays a solid foundation for the project's subsequent construction, driving the practical application and value of energy storage technologies.
