July 9, 2025 (China) – The mid-term on-site review meeting for the "Sodium-Ion Hybrid Capacitor Energy Storage Technology" project, led by New Energy Company (a subsidiary of the Municipal State - owned Investment Group), was held at Ningbo CRRC New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. on July 5, 2025. The project, part of the "14th Five-Year Plan" National Key R&D Program, successfully passed the mid-term review after evaluation by an expert panel.
The expert panel concluded that the project has been managed in a standardized manner, with complete documentation, and has achieved the mid-term objectives and assessment indicators specified in the task statement. They approved the project's mid-term review.
During the meeting, the panel conducted on-site inspections of Ningbo CRRC New Energy Technology Co., Ltd.'s laboratories, production lines, and testing centers to gain a comprehensive understanding of the project's R&D progress. In the technical discussion session, the experts engaged in in-depth exchanges on key issues such as the technical roadmap and industrial application of sodium-ion hybrid capacitor energy storage. They spoke highly of the project's phased achievements and emphasized that as the leading unit, New Energy Company should earnestly fulfill its main responsibility. It is required to accelerate the verification of research topics, implement demonstration sites as soon as possible, and ensure the smooth completion of the "Sodium-Ion Hybrid Capacitor Energy Storage Technology" project by November 2026.
This project's successful mid-term review demonstrates significant progress in the research and development of sodium-ion energy storage technology, laying a solid foundation for its industrial application and promoting the development of the new energy storage industry.
