DTU is a wireless terminal device specially used to convert serial port data into IP data or convert IP data into serial port data and transmit it through a wireless communication network.
DTU hardware components mainly include CPU control module, wireless communication module and power supply module.
Application of DTU in power grid
DTU is generally installed in conventional opening and closing stations (stations), outdoor small opening and closing stations, ring main units, small substations, box-type substations, etc., to complete the acquisition and calculation of data such as position signals, voltages, currents, active power, reactive power, power factors, and electrical energy of switchgear, and to open and close the switches, so as to realize the fault identification, isolation and restoration of power supply to the non-fault interval of the feeder switch, and some DTUs also have the functions of protection and automatic input of standby power supply.
Two applications of overcapacity in DTUs
1. Normal power supply: When the line is electrified, the power module provides working power for DTU/FTU, and the supercapacitor provides the electric opening and closing mechanism of the switchgear for operation.
2. Standby power supply: When the line loses power, the supercapacitor acts as the energy end to provide backup power for the DTU/FTU through the power module, and at the same time drives the switch to open and close the operation.
In addition, supercapacitors have the advantages of long working life, relaxed operating temperature, maintenance-free and so on. All of them make supercapacity the most suitable energy storage element for DTU.
