Approved by the State Council, China Yajiang Group Co., Ltd. was established, with the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council representing the State Council to perform the duties of the investor. This means that the 99th central enterprise was officially founded. On the same day, in Nyingchi City, Tibet, the highly anticipated hydropower project on the lower reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River was announced to start construction officially, with a total investment of approximately 1.2 trillion yuan.
Recently, the founding ceremony of China Yajiang Group Co., Ltd. was held in Beijing. Zhang Guoqing, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, attended and unveiled the company's establishment. Zhang Guoqing emphasized that the establishment of China Yajiang Group is a major decision made by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core from a strategic and overall perspective. It is an important measure to thoroughly implement the overall national security concept, the new energy security strategy, and the Party's strategy for governing Tibet in the new era, and to ensure the smooth construction and operation of the hydropower project on the lower reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River.
The hydropower project on the lower reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River is a core project of China's energy security strategy. The Yarlung Zangbo River is a river with high altitude and large drop in the world, and it has abundant unexploited hydropower resources. According to the results of the fifth national census of hydropower resources, the theoretical reserve of hydropower resources in the main and tributary rivers of the Yarlung Zangbo River exceeds 110 million kilowatts. Compared with wind power and photovoltaics, hydropower has the advantages of stable power generation and strong adjustability, and is suitable as a base load power source for the power grid. After the project is put into production, the domestic installed hydropower capacity will be further increased, which can provide green power support for high-energy-consuming industries such as new energy vehicles and data centers. It can greatly increase the proportion of the use of clean energy in China, reduce the consumption of coal and oil, reduce dependence on imported energy, and enhance China's energy self-sufficiency ability. While ensuring national energy security, this also plays an important role in promoting China's "dual carbon" goals, responding to global climate change, and contributing to the world's low-carbon development.
After the project is completed, it will also improve the levels of infrastructure such as power, water conservancy, and transportation, strengthen the development connection between Tibet and other regions, and bring more sense of gain, happiness, and security to people of all ethnic groups in Tibet.
The updated list of central enterprises by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission shows that China Yajiang Group ranks 22nd, after China Three Gorges Corporation and before CHN Energy Investment Group.
